At its simplest, you go when you want, get exercise walking a few miles while making small talk, and at the end of the day it is cash in the pocket.
But more than that, you are a guide and a participant; helping someone enjoy their experience; knowing when to be quiet and let others interact; and, when appropriate to contribute & interject, share knowledge and information, suggest options and approaches to take, and offer subtle insights.
A chance to be personable, sociable, or tell a story to put your golfer at ease so as to enjoy their round and perhaps even play better!
Being a looper may not be on the level of a sherpa guiding a climber up Everest, but an enjoyable 18 holes much like a successful summit will return rewards for each participant — which is nice…
