Deli Meyer in Lincoln Square was the only place I was aware of at the time that carried Stiegl beer.
Living in West Town, it was a bit of a special destination run for a special beer and perhaps that is why I recall the evening so clearly.
Having put a couple of cases of Stiegl in the back of the Ford Escort, I resumed driving to Wisconsin with 93.1 WXRT tuned.
Sound Opinions was on and Jim was reviewing the strange new experimental sounds of this kid from California who mixed in tape loops & samples with thin rapping and a sprinkle of German fragments (how appropriate!).
Beck – I’m a Loser on WXRT with 16 bottles of Stiegl and a box of marzipan. Pretty perfect.
I no longer drink; the Deli Meyer is long gone; the Ford Escort crashed; but Sound Opinions lives on…
